This may not be a heavy metal album but what t produced here is very impressive. He wrote all music and lyrics played all instruments and did all vocals and he also engineered and recorded it on his own. The man behind t is Thomas Thielen who is also the singer and guitarist for the prog band Scythe.

On this album we find however not too much prog but instead the album is loaded with melancholia and fragile song structures like on the openings track “She Said”. Next song “A Night Out” is heavier and sounds electronic. This is by far the weakest song on the album. Next up is “Round Here” which is a dark and sad piano ballad with moody and depressing vocals.

When I was listening to this album I tried to find other bands to compare this CD to and the few that popped up in my mind are Marillion, Radiohead and the last couple of Anathema albums. “Naïve” is certainly not an album that will cheer you up for that it is too moody, melancholic and depressing sounding.

I really enjoy this album and I play it often late at night when enjoying a glass of wine. “Naïve” is an excellent solo album debut from this talented musician.
